A Letter From The President
Hello! Welcome to Pi Beta Phi at the University of Georgia! My name is Jennie Parrish, and I am the Chapter President! On behalf of the members of the Georgia Alpha Chapter, we welcome you to our website. Whether you’re just browsing our page out of curiosity, looking for what true sisterhood is, or wanting to learn more about “Pi Phi”, I encourage you to take a look and see what it truly means to be a Pi Phi here at UGA!
As I am writing this letter, I can’t help but think to myself about my two and a half years at the University of Georgia and how much of an impact Pi Phi has made on my time in college. Pi Phi has brought me the most driven, selfless, and amazing women that continuously push me to be my best self. My best memories in college and favorite memories of life have been made through Pi Phi, and I cannot wait for the many more memories to be made. I am so lucky that I am able to spend these four years with my best friends, my future bridesmaids, but most importantly, this chapter.
Everyone’s story and journey into college is unique. Transitioning from high school to college is challenging, believe me, and it’s like taking a huge jump into a body of unknown water. If you’re hesitant on the changes up ahead, let me tell you about where I was just three years ago.
The moment I opened up my admissions decision and saw the fireworks on my phone screen, I knew I was about to call UGA my home for the next four years. Even though I was beyond excited to get accepted into my dream school, the thought of having to go to a different school than my best friends terrified me. I wasn’t sure if I was ready to have to go through the process of making new friends. I knew I had amazing friends at home, and at the time, I honestly thought I didn’t need any more.
During recruitment, I learned what makes Pi Phi so unique and met a group of powerful women I am so happy to associate myself with today. Becoming a Pi Phi, and a sorority member, in general, is more than the clapping and matching shirts you see on social media. It’s being challenged to step out of your comfort zone to help and serve others. It’s the lifelong friendships that are created, the joy of giving the gift of literacy to kids thanks to our amazing philanthropy, and this once in a lifetime opportunity to be apart of something bigger than yourself.
Three years ago, I couldn’t tell you the person I was going to be, the memories I was going to make, or the people I was going to meet. College has given me my best memories and friends that I will forever treasure and give all my thanks to Pi Beta Phi.
Whether you’re about to begin your college journey and you’re on the fence about signing up for recruitment, my advice for you is to take that leap of faith and every opportunity it comes with. I wish everyone the sense of belonging, love, and “home” that I have felt through Pi Beta Phi. If I have ever been positive about one thing in my life, is that you can never go wrong when you go Pi Phi.
“I will never be able to give back to Pi Phi what Pi Phi has given me”
Pi Phi Love & Mine,
Jennie Parrish
